How to make a Reservation

If you are interested in placing a reservation for any of our goats, please contact us by clicking the link below to send us an email. Please review our sales policy below prior to sending a reservation request via email and be sure to include requested info. If and when the kid you have reserved is born and is available, we will be contacting you via the information you provide, so please ensure accuracy! If we are unable to get a hold of you, we will move on down the list. This does not necessarily mean you will not be able to purchase our goats just that you lost your place in line. Our priority here is our GOATS and finding them loving forever homes with families that are able to provide the proper care for them, so a farm visit is required prior to accepting a deposit on any of our goats regardless of age, no exceptions.

Thank you!!

Sperry Family Farm Goat Sales Policy

The Sperry Family Farm LLC reserves the right to retain any kid born here at any time. Our goats will only be sold to approved homes, a farm visit is required prior to any deposit being taken. Goats are herd animals and are happier and healthier when they live with other goats. Single goats will NOT be sold unless the buyer already owns goats. If a buyer does not already own goats the buyer must purchase 2 or more goats, there will be no exceptions made to this rule as we do not compromise the future health and well-being of our goats for anyone at any time or for any reason, thank you for understanding.

Buyers Responsibilities

When sending inquiries about an animal for sale, please use the "Contact Us" link at the top of the page or you can send a personal message on by clicking the message button in the bottom right corner of the page. If you are new to goat ownership, please respond to the following questions and let us know a little bit about yourself and why you are considering owning goats. If you have an established herd, please let us know if you have a website or social media page. A goat will not be considered sold until an agreement has been reached and a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit is received by the farm.

  • Why are you buying goats? What do you plan to do with them? Are they pets? This helps us help you!
  • Do you have a year round reliable source for hay? Goats need hay all year, especially in winter to help keep them warm.
  • Do you have a large animal veterinarian available? Do they treat goats? Our herd is cared for by Battenkill Bovine Veterinary Clinic in Greenwich NY
  • Goats need protection from all weather elements, do you have a shelter with 4 walls and a door?
  • Do you have strong reliable fencing? If goats are not happy within the fence they may try to escape, our goats do well with 48" high fencing.
  • Do you live in an area where goats may not be allowed by local zoning laws?

Sellers Responsibilities

  • Goat kids will be disbudded, tattooed (registered breeding stock), vaccinated for CD&T and will receive coccidia prevention prior to leaving our farm, a health record will accompany animal at time of pick up.
  • ADGA registration application will be included on the sale of breeding stock, which includes ALL does/doelings and intact males, unless otherwise agreed upon. Intact males will be ready to go at 8-10 weeks of age and doelings at 10 weeks.
  • Wethers being sold to pet homes will be banded prior to leaving the farm at 10-12 weeks of age.
  • All goats in our herd over 6 months of age have tested negative for CAE and Johnne's as of April 2021.
  • The seller will ensure that the animal appears to be in good health prior to pick up, any animal that does not appear to be in good health will not leave the farm and the buyer will be notified and a new arrangement will be made. There is NO health guarantee on any animal once it leaves our farm, the health and safety of the animal is the responsibility of the buyer at this point.
  • Because we consider bio-security to be of the utmost importance we may not choose to have goats re-enter our herd after leaving but we do ask each goat owner that has purchased breeding stock from our farm to give us  the first right of refusal, meaning if you find yourself in a position to re-home one of our goats that you give us the first opportunity to buy it back from you before making it available to the public.

Putting down a deposit

  • A deposit of 50% of the sale price is required to hold a kid or an adult goat. This deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE and will NOT transfer to another animal, so please be informed and decisive. Initial deposits can be in the form of cash or Paypal transaction, personal checks may be considered for initial deposit only. Final cash payment required at pick up.
  • This deposit will hold an adult animal for a period of 2 weeks so that a pick-up arrangement can be made or if you are purchasing a goat kid the deposit will hold the animal until it is of weaning age. Pick-up arrangements for kids must be made prior to 10 weeks of age.
  • A boarding fee may be charged at $2/day if goat is not picked up within a reasonable time frame.
  • Any and all pick arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer including any interstate shipping requirements and costs.
  • If you do not come to pick up your animal per arrangement and you do not request a new pick-up date within 5 days of the original pick up date, we will assume that you have changed your mind and the animal will be put back up for sale, remember your deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE.

We here at The Sperry Farm love our goats and they are treated like family! We have been fortunate to have wonderful mentors that have also become friends and are available to help our family and our herd be successful and healthy, we think it is important to do the same for others. We will be available to answer any questions throughout the life of the goat and/or your ownership of the goat. We would love for you to stay in touch and please let us know how you and our goats are doing!

Pictures are always welcome!

Thank you so much for giving our goats the best homes!!
